Beaches

Hideaways Beach – Follow the steep paved path just outside of our condo down to the very private Hideaways Beach.  This beach is a good spot to do some snorkeling during calm weather (we have seen sea turtles amongst the coral heads) or relax in the shade and watch surfers hang ten.

Anini Beach – A short drive away, Anini beach boasts the longest and widest fringing reef in the Hawaiian Islands.  Because of the unique conditions it usually has well protected waters and some of the most consistent conditions for water activities such as snorkeling and stand up paddle boarding.  There is also a tree lined beach park with bathroom facilities, picnic tables and pavilions

Hanalei Bay – This 2 mile long crescent shaped beach offers activities for the whole family.  The center of the bay is known as Pavilions and is popular for swimming, surfing and boogie boarding.  There is a lifeguard station, bathroom facilities and BBQ areas as well.   The parking can be difficult especially during the weekend.   Don’t forget to take pictures of the Hanalei Pier.

Tunnels/Hanea Beach – Past Hanalei near the end of the Kuhio Highway (560) you can find the world famous Tunnels Beach. Golden sands and a backdrop of lush jungle and mountains make this beach one of the most popular in Kauai.  Tunnels is a favorite for surfing, kite surfing and SCUBA diving.  Parking can be found near the lifeguard station at Haena Beach Park.

Favorite places to eat

Located within the PKK complex, Hideaways is a favorite of visitors and locals alike.  They have a variety of salads and pizzas to choose from as well as a respectable wine list.

Seriously the best Avocado toast ever.  Plus they coffee, granola and other treats.

Where the locals go for lunch.  Nourish is a food stand tucked away on Hanalei Plantation Road in Princeville where you can find delicious wraps and bowls (all food is locally sourced).  Plus the view of Hanalei bay is amazing.

Delicious fresh juices to keep your taste buds entertained – plus their recyclable glass bottles make great souvenirs (think flower vases or sand holder).
